When we first jumped on a call to chat about their session, Sydney was sitting at her kitchen table. Her two year old Ruthie was chatting about Elsa from Frozen, bouncing in and out of the room, then tucking herself under her mom’s arm to listen to our conversation. Sydney was rubbing Ruthie’s back and simultaneously putting the baby to sleep, when I asked what she wanted to remember about this season.
She looked at her girls, one falling asleep and the other content on her arm, and time seemed to slow down.
“I don’t want to forget how little they are, and how fleeting this is,” she said through tears.
Heading back to work after maternity leave she wanted to remember all the baby thigh rolls, slow mornings with her girls, and the tiny feet dancing through the halls of their home.
So when we met for the session, at two year old Ruthie’s request I played “Let it Go” from Frozen, over and over on my bluetooth speaker. The girls snuggled against Sydney, and Ben swung them high into the air and we caught the closeness of their family.
